Adam - Long ago in the Beginning, Genesis 2:19-20 |
Blurb: Adam was alone until God made Eve. 1. Long ago in the beginning, when creation first began; God completed earth and heaven, and then He created man. God took Adam and He put him in the garden on his own. And He brought him all the animals, but still man was alone. Yes, God created ev'rything, so pleasant and fair; And put man in the garden, but no match for him was there! 2. Adam named all the animals the turtle and the bear, The monkey and the kangaroo, the squirrel and the hare; But when he had finished naming them His face was sad to see, "There's not one creature here," He sighed, "That's made the same as me." So God put him to sleep and took a rib from his side And from that bone he built for man a counterpart, a bride. 3. Adam named all the animals, the zebra and the bat, The panda and the elephant, the badger and the cat. Then God created him a helper, and he said so happily- This one's bone of my bone; now this one matches me. This one's bone of my bone; this woman's made for me. |
