(1 Samuel 18:1-4)

1. When Saul troubled David, God gave him a friend.
Yes, Jonathan, Saul's son, provided for him:
His armor, his belt, plus his sword and his bow.
This help rendered to David equipped him to go.

2. A friend who forewarned him when trouble was near,
And strengthened his trust in God, calming his fear.
Young David and Jonathan promised anew:
