Acts Song #10 - Deacons! (tune: cockles and mussels)
The apostles had just TOO many things to do!!
The Lord had a great solution: choose some helpers, He called them deacons!

1. In Acts chapter six was a beautiful picture:
Disciples were multiplied, numbers abound;
But some of the widows were left to go hungry,
And a murmur arose, 'twas an unpleasant sound.
There's need of some deacons,
some wise-hearted beacons,
Some full of the Spirit and wisdom be found.

It's not fitting for apostles to serve the food;
Look for seven honest men, of good report.
Twelve will pray and teach; seven will serve the food.

2. There's Stephen and Phillip,
Prochorus and Nicanor,
Timon, Parmenas and Nicholas, too;
Men full of faith, and full of the Spirit,
The apostles then prayed and
laid hands on these few.
Now everyone's happy,
the Word of God's growing,
And the number of disciples was greatly increased!
