The Israelites Had Been Marching Now Exodus 17:8-16 (Bible Story Songs Moses Volume 2, #14) |
The Israelites had been marching now For many, many days And in the wilderness God Had cared for them in special ways. He sent down manna from the heav'ns And living water flowed, They needed strength for what was coming Further down the road. For Amalek was there at Rephidim; He'd come to fight with all his mighty men. "They block the route (Oh, No!) Let's get them out! Then go a-marching on to the good land." And Moses said (And Moses said) To Joshua, (To Joshua) "Choose men for us (Choose men for us) To go out and fight!" Fight! Fight! Atop the hill (Atop the hill) Tomorrow I'll be (Tomorrow I'll be) I'll hold in my hand (I'll hold in my hand) The staff of God! (The Staff of God) The next day Moses stood upon the hill; Below fought Amalek and Israel. He raised his hand (Oh My!) The change was grand (here's why), For then God's side began to win! Hooray! The battle dragged on (The battle dragged on), His strength almost gone (His strength almost gone): Week Moses' hands (Weak Moses' hands) Began to fall! Fall! Fall! Hands up, they prevailed (Yes, Isr'el prevailed), Hands down then they failed. (Hands down then they failed.) He needed some help (Give Moses some help!) To stand for them all. All! All! So Hur and Aaron sat him on a stone; They held his hands up he was not alone! They gave support when Moses' Strength was short; that's how God Won a victory that day!! |
